UCP Day of Reflection
On April 4, UCP in Palestine brought together 30 unarmed civilian protectors from 13 organizations working in Palestine. Participants included Palestinians, Israelis, and international solidarity members.
We shared strategies, built community, and thought of ways to strengthen civilian protection in Palestine. We learned from each other’s best pratices - covering topics such as training, safety protocols, communication methods, and use of media.
We also explored new ideas - thinking outside the box of ways to center Palestinian leadership, create inclusive volunteer environments, promote nonviolence culture and explore new legal and media strategies. We each left with a call to action. Our goal is to strengthen civilian protection and build lasting support for the organizations leading this work on the ground. Building infrastructure to support and organize unarmed civilian protectors is deeply important for our organization, and we are looking forward to the next opportunity to connect with amazing activists on the ground.
